Thoughts on Democracy - 2

We are a fraternal order, destined to safeguard democracy.

Democracy is at a turning point.

It is in danger of erosion and collapse.

The people know that something is wrong and feel powerless to do anything about it.

They vote, they protest, they donate, but nothing changes.

The same mediocre politicians get voted in year after year.

The two parties seem to have a stranglehold on the system.

Powerful donors and interest groups pull the strings.

What is to be done?

Can we fight back?

Can we turn the tides?

We say we can.

We believe that if we come together we can create a better democracy.

Though we must not be lazy.

We must take our duty as citizens seriously.

We must educate ourselves and turn out to vote.

We must become informed about who our politicians are and what their positions are.

We must become informed about the issues and what makes for a healthy economy.

We must put our money where our mouths are and donate to politicians and causes that are fighting the good fight.

Through these concerted efforts we can truly make a change.

We call ourselves a fraternal order protecting democracy because that is what we believe is necessary.

This is not a conspiracy.

This is a vanguard. A last stand.

We will not let democracy be taken down without a fight.
